The four themed LCs that freshman residents may request to join
are the Leadership, Social Justice, Health & Wellness and
Environmental Learning Communities.
Leadership Learning Community
Students in the Leadership LC will be given the opportunity to
critically examine their personal leadership development and the
impact of leadership and civic engagement within the greater St.
John's and New York City communities.
Social Justice Learning Community
Rooted in the mission of St. Vincent de Paul, the Social
Justice LC provides students with a critical lens to examine issues
of oppression, poverty and diversity within the local and global
communities. Students in the Social Justice LC will have the
opportunity to participate in an on-going service experience in the
New York City area.
Health and Wellness Learning
Community
The Health and Wellness LC will have an opportunity to learn more
about mechanisms involving both physical and mental health.
Environmental Learning
Community
As a resident in the Environmental Learning Community, you will
have an important opportunity to influence and enhance the local
environment at St. John’s University.
Students accepted into the Honors Program or Ozanam Scholars
Program will be placed in their respective Learning
Communities.
