NIH Seeks St. John’s Professor’s Advice on Correcting Racial Disparities in Research Grants 9:00 AM Scyatta Wallace, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Psychology, made her presentation at an advisory meeting held by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, a division of the NIH. The meeting took place over two days, November 7 and 8, in Bethesda, MD.

Dr. Dianella Howarth Earns Prestigious National Science Foundation Grant 9:00 AM Dianella Howarth, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Department of Biological Sciences, was recently awarded a major grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to conduct research based on her abstract, The Role of Gene Duplication in the Floral Symmetry in Dipsacales.

St. John's Bread of Life's "Sponsor-A-Family” program 11:00 AM This holiday season, St. John’s Bread and Life Soup Kitchen hopes to serve over 2,000 families and also bring warm winter gear to over 1,000 individuals through its annual “Sponsor-A-Family” program. The Sponsor-A-Family initiative delivers food, clothing and toy packages to families who would otherwise be unable to celebrate the holiday.

Winter Carnival Stirs Holiday Spirit Despite Rain 12:00 PM A little rain couldn’t dampen the holiday spirits of scores of students, faculty, alumni and staff who turned out for the 21st Annual Christmas Tree Lighting at St. John’s University.  Despite the weather, the festive event went on as scheduled on December 7, the highlight of the University’s week-long Winter Carnival celebration.
