Tuition and fees must be paid in US dollars. All bank fees
incurred in processing student checks are charged to the student.
Tuition payments may be paid by credit card, checks or wire
transfers. Please see our current tuition fees
online.
The University administration reserves the right, whenever
advisable, to change or modify its schedule of tuition and fees.
Every effort is made to maintain them at the lowest possible
level.
Scholarships
Scholarship awards are competitive and are made on the basis of
scholastic achievement, need, and evidence of leadership, work
experience and other personal characteristics that may add value to
the academic and social atmosphere at STJ. Scholarships vary from
partial to full tuition. They are generally given to full time
students for the entire period of study. To be considered for a
scholarship, you must include an additional letter with your
application material stating your interest in being considered as a
candidate. Students holding tuition scholarships are required to
pay the general fees and any other fees required for the courses
they are taking.
U.S. Federal Loans for American
Citizens
American students who are interested in studying in Rome are
eligible to apply for federal graduate loans in the U.S. This
process should be started in January and can be started prior to
receiving an acceptance to St. John's University. The University
deadline for filing the FAFSA is Feb. 1 each year.
The following is a brief description of the financial aid
application process:
First, students must fill out a FAFSA form, this may be done
on-line. You must include the STJ Title IV Code: 002823.
The U.S. government will automatically notify STJ that you have
filed for loans. You should receive a copy of the form you filed in
the mail, you will be asked to confirm that all the information is
correct and to mail it back to the U.S. government agency.
Once you are admitted to St. John's and the university has received
your FAFSA (this comes from the U.S. agency), the university will
process your loan request.
St. John's will send you a package and a financial letter. Then you
will have to complete the necessary forms provided by the financial
aid office and return them via mail to the university.
Graduate Assistantships
Graduate assistantships are competitive. Full and part time
assistantships are awarded on a semester basis to qualified
students. These awards are based on academic achievement. To apply
for an assistantship the student must be present on campus and can
apply and participate in interviews as positions become available.
Full tuition remission for up to 4 classes per semester is awarded
and all students must maintain a full time study program. Their
renewal, contingent on satisfactory work, is at the discretion of
the University. Students who are interested in applying for a
graduate assistantship must complete the appropriate application
form in addition to the application materials.
Resident Assistantships
Resident Assistantships are awarded to currently enrolled
students. The Resident Assistant’s main responsibility is to
foster and maintain a safe and welcoming living and learning
environment for the undergraduate and graduate students who reside
in the dorm through both the implementation of St. John’s policies
and interaction with the residents. All available assistantships
are advertised by email and posted on the graduate programs
bulletin board. Submitted applications are reviewed and interviews
are conducted. RAs are compensated with on-site housing in a
single room and five ‘Ticket Restaurant vouchers’ per week.
