The Learning Resources Center, within the Division of Academic
Support Services, was established in 1997 as part of a University
wide effort to increase academic support. Our goal is to assist
students in becoming active learners. We are open to all who
wish to improve their academic skills and ability to learn.
The tutors of the LRC strive to enrich the St. John’s academic
environment by engaging students in study outside of the
classroom.
The Learning Resources Center provides free peer tutoring in varied
academic areas including: Math, Calculus with Business
Applications, Accounting, Management, Finance, Statistics,
Philosophy, Theology, History, Speech, Psychology, Spanish,
Italian, Chinese, Science Inquiry
Our Center provides help in computer skills including Excel,
PowerPoint, and Access. We also offer support in basic
organizational and study skills. Individual as well as small group
tutoring is available. Special study groups in core classes are
offered to Freshmen students.
The LRC offers guided assistance in content reading to help
students apply critical and interpretive comprehension techniques
to college coursework. Each semester we facilitate STUDY DAY Review
Sessions for specific courses in preparation for final
examinations. Let our staff help you to succeed. We are
committed to academic excellence.
