Meet the Artist – Connie
Frisch-Cherniak
NaPali Coast, Kauai by Connie
Frisch-Cherniak
In the first of a new initiative by the Office of the Vice
Provost, a student panel will interview Connie Frisch-Cherniak on
her background and how she became interested in the arts,
especially photography. She will discuss the inspiration
behind a collection of her photographs entitled”Wish You Were
Here.” These photos capture her love of nature and “create a
sense of calm, in an often chaotic world.” They will be on
exhibit in the Loretto Memorial Library through the end of the
semester.
Connie Frisch-Cherniak is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Art
in St. John’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences on the Staten
Island Campus. She earned a Bachelors of Science in Visual
Arts Degree from the University of Wisconsin and a Master of Fine
Arts Degree from the Mason Gross School of the Arts – Rutgers
University, New Brunswick, NJ. Her work has been displayed in
numerous solo and group exhibitions - locally and
internationally. She is a member of various professional
organizations including the Creative Photographers Guild, a
non-profit professional photography organization located at 814
Richmond Terrace on Staten Island, which believes strongly in
giving back to the community by hosting photography workshops and
exhibitions.
