Off-Broadway Play: Monk
Written by Lawrence Holder and starring Obie Award-winning
renaissance man, Rome Neal (Nuyorican Poet’s Café), Monk is a
stirring off-Broadway play chronicling the life of the enigmatic
jazz pioneer, Thelonius Monk. With music arranged by Spike Lee’s
father, Bill Lee, this acclaimed performance prmiered at the Urban
Theatre Arts Festival in 2003. Having found a home at the Abington
Theatre in manhattan, it will open in march, but the St. John’s
community has been invited to a free preview at the Newark
Museum.
