African Heritage Month 2006 - The Roots: Defining Our Purpose While Building Our Legacy

What You Don't Know Will Hurt You...

The African-American ascendancy in mainstream Corporate America is a new phenomenon. Twenty five or thirty years ago, in fact, it was virtually unheard of to find a Black at any executive level in the White owned firms. This program will be discussing some notable African-American corporate trailblazers who held executive positions in mainstream Corporate America in the 1950s, ‘60s ad early ‘70s. Because these African American go getter’s were willing to read and take in information that was hidden from them they were able to break the trend of only White executives in Corporate America. We will be taking cases like Percy Lavon Julian who is the first African American to be named director of research at a White-owned firm, the Glidden Paint Company, to Rob Johnson founder of BET. This program will be exceptionally educational and will enlighten minds everywhere. Please join us in this program.
