On behalf of the Board of Trustees, Board of Governors,
faculty, students and staff, we are pleased to announce that our
14th Annual President’s Dinner will be held on Thursday,
October 27, 2011 at The Waldorf~Astoria
in New York City.
The recipients of the 2011 Spirit of Service
Awards include Margaret (Peg) LaRosa
D'Angelo ’70Ed; Peter P. D’Angelo
’78MBA, ’06HON, President, Caxton Associates, LP;
William J. Janetschek, Jr. ’84CBA, Chief
Financial Officer and Partner, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts and
Company; and James P. Pellow, Ed.D., President
and Chief Executive Officer, Council on International
Educational Exchange.
As you know, our Annual President’s Dinner has become the
University’s premier fundraising event. The revenue generated
through this marvelous evening constitutes a major portion of the
funding which is directly dispersed to our most deserving students
in the form of scholarships and other types of financial aid. This
past academic year, more than 94% of our undergraduate students
received some form of financial assistance, an economic reality
that makes the success of our Dinner even more vital.
Although regular ticket prices begin at $1,200, a
special discounted rate of $250 per person is
available to all St. John’s full-time faculty, administrators and
staff, up to a maximum of two tickets per person. Once again, we
will be providing round trip bus service from the Queens and Staten
Island campuses to and from The
Waldorf~Astoria on the evening of October
27th.
If you cannot attend, please consider making a gift to support this
necessary endeavor. You may make a contribution as an individual,
or get together with colleagues to purchase an ad in the
commemorative online journal. Either way, you will be reaching out
to the students who need our help to make their dream of a St.
John’s education a reality.
Those interested in attending this wonderful St. John’s event are
