Testing of Emergency Text and Voice Messaging System
Date:
Thursday, September 20, 2012
In order to ensure that all of St. John's University emergency
notification systems operate properly, it is necessary that we
conduct periodic tests of each system. On Wednesday,
September 26, 2012, the Office of Public Safety will
perform a TEST of our text and voice messaging
capabilities from 2-3 p.m.
All members of the University community who have signed up to
receive these emergency messages should receive a test message.
Those who do not have text messaging included in their service
contracts will not receive text messages, but should receive the
voice message. Those who registered a landline telephone number
will receive the voice message only.
The message will clearly state that this is only a test. No action
will be required of recipients, unless they do not receive the
message in the format(s) allowed by their service contract. If you
do not receive the test message in the correct format or not at all
and you are registered, please call (718)
674-8697.
The safety of all on our campuses remains our highest priority. I'd
like to remind you again that you can sign up for emergency voice
and text messaging by logging on to UIS and following the prompts
there.
Thank you for your continued cooperation in our efforts
to protect the safety of our St. John's
community.
