Visiting Jurist Series continues with A Conversation
with the Honorable Edgardo Ramos, United States District
Judge, United States District Court for the Southern District of
New York.
Judge Ramos was appointed to the Southern District bench in
December 2011. Born in Puerto Rico, he is a graduate of Yale
College (1982) and Harvard Law School (1987). From 1987–1992, Mr.
Ramos was a civil litigation associate at Simpson, Thacher &
Bartlett. He then served as an Assistant United States Attorney in
the Eastern District of New York for 10 years, becoming Deputy
Chief of the Narcotics Section. In 2002, he became a partner in the
law firm that would become Day Pitney LLP, practicing in its White
Collar & Internal Investigations Group and chairing the firm’s
Diversity Committee. In 2003, Mayor Bloomberg appointed Mr. Ramos
to serve on the Commission to Combat Police Corruption. He also has
served on the governing boards of the Hispanic National Bar
Association and other bar organizations.
