15th Annual Faculty Book
Reception
Monday, April 2, 2012
The Institute for Writing Studies and the University Libraries,
in conjunction with the Office of the Provost and the Center for
Teaching and Learning, are pleased to announce the 15th Annual
University-Wide Reception honoring those faculty members who have
published a book since March 2011.
The reception will be held on Monday, April 2, 2012 in the
Institute for Writing Studies, St. Augustine Hall, Room 150, from
3:30 until 5:30 p.m. This event will provide the University
community, faculty, students, administrators, and staff, an
occasion to become acquainted with the recent work of faculty
colleagues. Authors are expected to attend the
reception.
All books will be displayed at the reception and during the
Research Month Grants Reception earlier in the day.
All full-time faculty members are invited to participate.
If you wish to participate, please click the link * and
complete the online Faculty Author Submission form.
Submissions may include single-author monographs, edited volumes,
textbooks, and re-editions. A version of the descriptions and
comments and a snapshot of the bookcover will be printed in a
booklet as a permanent record of the event. To ensure that
the booklet is ready for the reception, the deadline for submission
is February 10, 2012. If your book will be published in
spring 2012, you must provide an image of the book cover by
February 10th and a hard copy of the book by March 28th. If
you cannot meet these deadlines your book will be featured in the
2013 Faculty Book Reception.
Please forward a copy of your book to Ms. Dorothy Bukay in the
Institute for Writing Studies by February 10, 2012. You will
receive an e-mail confirmation of receipt. All books will be
returned within two weeks of the event.
We will feature a panel of 5 book authors, one selected from
each college, to speak for a few minutes about their work as
writers and researchers. This will allow for more informal
time for all participants to talk with one another and guests about
their work, as well as to browse the featured titles on
display.
If you would like to be considered as a speaker for the panel,
please send an email to Dorothy Bukay (bukayd@stjohns.edu) with a
paragraph about what you’d like to share with your
colleagues. Please note “Reception speaker” in the subject
line. This is also due by February 10th. These
proposals will be reviewed by a committee after which five faculty
members will be invited to present on April 2nd.
If you have any questions concerning participation or
submission, please contact Anne Ellen Geller at gellera@stjohns.edu.
* Link has been closed to submissions for 2012
reception.
