Thinking Globally: Using The New York Times in the Classroom

This faculty workshop will provide teaching strategies to integrate The New York Times into your courses. The objective is to foster students’ global awareness, promote critical thinking, engage students in active learning, and help to create a more informed, responsible citizenry.

As a vibrant daily record of history in the making, The Times can ignite student interest by linking learning to living.  Enrich your course with The New York Times, the nation’s most honored newspaper, and support the University’s effort to create a culture of reading.

The workshop will be led by Tom Glieden, Education Manager for The New York Times.  In addition to sharing instructional strategies, The New York Times' on-line teaching and research resources will be demonstrated.

This workshop will also outline resources available to faculty. A complimentary subscription can be provided to faculty who have 10 or more students and incorporate The Times into their syllabi.
