Department of Human Services and Counseling - Three Assistant/Associate Professors
The Department is seeking applications for one tenure track
position in special education. An earned doctorate in special
education and classroom experience with special needs populations
are required. Responsibilities include teaching graduate and
undergraduate courses in cross-categorical special education and
inclusion teacher preparation programs specifically in the state
registered program – Teaching Children with Disabilities. The
successful candidate will be able to work with field based
personnel on the delivery of special education services to eligible
individuals. A record of publications, evidence of research
with special needs youngsters, grant writing ability and
participation in presentations at scholarly meetings are
needed.
The Department is seeking one tenure track position in teaching
English to speakers of other languages (TESOL). The
successful candidate will hold an earned doctorate in TESOL or
related field, have teaching experience with ELL school aged
children and youth, a record of TESOL research and publications;
grants track record, and scholarly presentations to professional
societies. Responsibilities include teaching graduate (TESOL)
classes, as well as graduate core courses common to the
Department’s TESOL and Bilingual Education programs; working with
field based personnel in community school districts and high
schools to improve instruction and delivery of services to ELL
children and youth.
The Department is seeking applications for one tenure track
position as a reading/literacy educator. The successful
candidate will hold an earned doctorate in reading and/or a
literacy related field; with background and experience in
conducting research and teaching reading/literacy in school
settings. Responsibilities include teaching graduate courses
in the theory and practice of literacy instruction particularly for
at-risk and special needs learners; knowledge of scientifically
based reading research, diagnosis and remediation, working
cooperatively with field based personnel to improve literacy
instruction in the schools. A record of publications,
presentations at scholarly meetings in literacy related area, and
grant writing ability is preferred.
