Job Description
Student Wellness seeks an experienced and creative individual to provide strategic leadership to the newly expanded program for Wellness Education and Prevention Services that is part of an integrated wellness area that includes a student health center and counseling center.  The Department of Student Wellness is composed of a multidisplinary team of professionals including psychologists, social workers, nurses, and consulting psychiatrists.  The successful candidate will provide the leadership, administration, vision, and strategic planning to enhance alcohol and drug education and prevention; mental health education and awareness; health education, and general wellness programming. The Director will oversee development, implementation, and assistant assessment of wellness education and prevention programming university-wide.

This position reports to the Executive Director for Student Wellness within the Division of Student Affairs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strong and effective leadership in the development and implementation of programs and interventions that address students-related AOD issues, mental health education, and health education.
  • Programs should include the best practices in education and prevention efforts and intervention strategies.
  • Director should enhance initiatives that will focus on expanded peer education, and harm reduction.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of services, educational programs, initiatives and interventions.
  • Serve on University committees as needed.
  • Be prepared to manage area budget.
  • Supervision of two coordinators is required.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Alcohol and Other Drug intervention,  Public Health, Health Education, Substance Abuse Counseling, Social Work, or related field; PhD. preferred.
  • A strong background in alcohol and other drug prevention required.
  • Three or more years experience working AOD prevention, wellness, or health promotion programs preferably in a college/university setting.
  • Demonstrated competency with harm reduction, multisystemic interventions, and motivational interviewing required.
  • Must have experience with program assessment and data analysis.
  • Must possess excellent presentation, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have grant writing and grant management skills.
  • Demonstrate knowledge, sensitivity and ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds required.
