Job Description
Manage and provide operational direction and support to the
Financial Services Department.
This position is responsible for maintaining and evolving
operational support to primary University clients (students,
parents, alum) within the University’s Office of Student Financial
Services (financial aid and bursar). The Associate Director
must be able to analyze the operational functions of the
department, and assess the desired goals, and determine if the
office is operating in the most effective and efficient
manner. Where needed, strategic brainstorms and solutions
should be conducted, ensuring that the proper message is being
communicated, the resources are being maximized, and the goals set
forth are appropriate.
It is critical that the Associate Director be proactive and be
able to manage on a macro level as well as be detail
oriented. It is required that the individual be a team leader
and cultivate a productive and motivating team environment.
Responsibilities
- Enhance the student experience, University wide, at the various
touch points (financial aid, payment process, etc).
- Analyzing current messaging via inbound and outbound channels
across the University, ensuring that we are communicating with the
students with one message and recommending enhancements/changes,
where applicable.
- Bench-marketing other institutions, establishing best
practices, and developing a differentiation and leadership
strategy.
- Manage internal customer relationships on an as-needed
basis.
- Manage the customer service staff, composed of financial aid
and bursarial counselors.
- Review and analyze daily traffic patterns (phone, in-person
visitations, etc.), and make recommendations on improving
service.
- Manage the registration process, ensuring that all
communication to students has been disseminated, and staffing is
available.
- Work with various University offices to ensure students bills
are accurate and assist with resolving problems as they arise.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s a plus, but not required).
- Minimum 5 years financial aid and or bursar experience at
supervisory level.
- Excellent computer skills – must be fluent in Microsoft Office
applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Good communication, coaching and motivation skills, and a
history of customer relationship building.
- Demonstrated ability to work independent of direct day-to-day
supervision.
- Additional responsibilities as required.
Salary
Salary commensurate with your qualifications, experience, and
contingent upon the departmental budget.
