Summary Description of Services Provided by the
Department:
• Teach practical skills, provide guidance in a real
work environment and give the opportunity to gain knowledge of
business functions
• Provide practical experience the student can use once (s)he
completes course studies, graduates and pursues his/her career.
Description of what the experiential learning experience will be
during his/her rotation:
• Gain practical experience and develop skills useful in a
marketing and communications business environment, specifically as
it relates to media.
• Obtain knowledge of basic protocols and responsibilities
necessary to operate within a business and functional
environment.
Describe the major activities the GA will be involved with and
evaluated on:
1. Download and track leads and forward to appropriate
contact/department for follow-up
2. Generate insertion orders for university’s media needs and
enter information in insertion order log for tracking
purposes
3. Log all media invoices in insertion order log and forward
to appropriate contact/department for payment
4. Maintain insertion order and invoice binders
5. Resolve invoice issues with media vendors
6. Generate and maintain traffic instructions chart for
Undergraduate, Graduate, Transfer, International, and Catholic
media programs, among others.
7. Assist in end of year budget reconciliation
Qualifications:
• Describe the type of graduate degree program related
to the Assistantship being requested - Marketing,
Advertising, Communications and/or related fields
• Completed a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or
university with a major in Marketing, Advertising,
Communications and/or related fields
