Students win 2nd place at John Jay debating tournament

NEW YORK - The team of Nelson Kezoh and Timothy Barr won 2nd place at the John Jay debating tournament this past weekend, held in Manhattan.  Over 50 teams competed, representing universities such as the University of Vermont, Cornell University, Patrick Henry College, The King's College, The University of Rochester and others.

Tim and Nelson opposed the motion, "This House believes that a company should be allowed to control whether employees have children." First place was won by the University of Vermont. Also in the final round was a team from Patrick Henry College.



The tournament was held last weekend on the campus of John Jay college. Representing St. John's University were students Hannah Pribek, Korey Pace, Alisha Siquiera, Sara Marron, Catarina Goncalves, Alex Rella, Saad Qasim, Zia Durrani, George Fitzpatrick, Nipun Mahajan, Elkhansaa Farhane, Ifeoma Ukwubiwe, Margaret Williams and Kamya Chandra.
