Nature and Purpose of Agency
Emerald Isle provides services to the local immigrant population in Queens. Emerald Isle provides clients with the resources they need to apply for green cards, visas, and with the citizenship application process. The organization also provides various social services to the community including health programs, referrals for counseling for abuse and addiction, and provides assistance for education and employment. 

Tasks Available for Students
Citizenship Classes:
Assist the clients of Emerald Isle in preparing for their US Citizenship Exam. 10 students may serve each Saturday.Time Requirements: Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.Citizenship Class Schedule, Fall 2012:  Dates TBD 

Administrative/Project Assistance at the Emerald Isle Office:
Assist with general administrative work and preparing for events and special projects at the Emerald Isle office in Woodside.Time Requirements: 2:00-5:00 PM, 2 students may serve per shiftSchedule:Mondays: 10/1, 10/15, 10/22, 10/29, 11/5, 11/19, 11/26, 12/3Tuesdays: 10/2, 10/9, 10/1, 10/23, 10/30, 11/6, 11/13, 11/20, 11/27, 12/4Wednesdays: 10/10, 11/14

GED/ESL/Computer Classes:NOTE: HELD AT IS237Q, 73-10 34th AVE JACKSON HEIGHTS

Public Transportation:
By Subway/LIRR/Bus:Take 7 trains to 61st Street-Woodside. Walk down one block towards the intersection of Roosevelt and Woodside Avenues. You will see a Duane Reade store, EIIC is directly opposite the store, on the top floor of the Chase Manhattan Bank. LIRR to 61st Street in Woodside and follow directions above. Take bus Q32 to the 61st Street-Woodside and follow directions above. 

Driving Directions:
Start out going north on Utopia Pkwy toward Union Turnpike. Turn left onto Horace Harding Expy N. Merge onto I-495 W/Long Island Expy via the ramp on the left. Take exit 19 toward RT-25/Queens Blvd/Woodhaven Blvd. Take the Queens Blvd ramp toward RT-25. Turn slight left onto Horace Harding Expy. Turn right onto Queens Blvd. Turn right onto 65th Place. Take the 1st left onto Woodside Ave. If you reach Roosevelt Ave. you've gone about 0.1 miles too far. 59-26 Woodside Ave. Your destination is just past 60th St.
