Nature and Purpose of Agency
Through the love of God, Garden of Hope is dedicated to serving,
caring, and rebuilding the lives of women and children who are
victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
Garden of Hope facilitates seminars, workshops and trainings on
domestic violence and sexual assault. Garden of Hope also
provides crisis intervention and bilingual individual counseling to
women and children in the Chinese
community.
Tasks Available for Students
Mentorship and Tutoring Activities
• Tutor and assist children of domestic violence
with homework help. Would like to arrange
tutoring as a one-on-one setting if possible.
• Spring break and Winter break weeks – week long
camps are organized for children dealing with domestic
violence. Assistance needed to participate and be a camp
counselor or mentor.
English as a Second Language
• English tutoring needed during the
weekday. Can be flexible with times. Chinese speaking
students needed.
• Translators also needed.
Events Assistance
• Assist with events. Full day
opportunities to help with event planning. (October is
Domestic Violence awareness).
Time
Requirements
Flexible. Will work out schedules on a case-by-case
basis.
Student Awareness/Special
Instructions
A three hour training is required for most activities. It is
possible to reduce training, pending the activity and commitment
hours. Very minimal training is necessary for events
assistance.
