Through our Main Chance Drop-In Center, we offer basic necessities (food, clothing, showers, and chairs for respite) and a range of social services including employment counseling, treatment referrals, and housing assistance.Tasks Available for Students Kitchen Services/Soup Kitchen – service-learning students are needed to work in the Main Chance soup kitchen seven days a week (Monday – Sunday) for lunch and dinner shifts. Workshops – all workshops are run by volunteers. They provide educational and informative workshops to clients of Main Chance. Workshops must receive approval from Maura Cook. Workshop topics include; yoga classes, piano lessons, nutrition, art, employability skills and financial planning. Main Chance is open to new and creative ideas. Pathways to Employment Program – this is a job readiness program and service-learning students can assist with mock interviews and aid in the development of time management skills. Time RequirementsNo specific time commitments are required.Student Awareness/Special InstructionsSoup Kitchen Shifts Lunch Schedule – 12pm – 1:30pm. Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday shifts available. No Monday and Wednesday lunch shifts. Dinner Schedule – 4pm – 6pm.
