Meaghan Mapes

Meaghan Lynn Mapes, is a proud sister of the Lambda Phi Sorority. She is freshman at Saint John's University with a major in Politics and Government and an undeclared minor in Philosophy. Currently she is an intern for Senator Serphin Maltese, and hopes to one day work for social justice in the realm of local politics. Meaghan is an alumna of Townsend Harris High School, where she graduated cum laude and studied Latin for two years. In high school, she was MVP for the Townsend Harris Hawks softball team and was recognized for having the highest batting average in the Queens A division. She was also chosen to be an All-Borough player. Meaghan was a lector at St. Helen’s Church all through high school and was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society there. She also has been coaching her sister's basketball team at St. Helen’s for the past four years. As an Ozanam Scholar she hopes to fulfill the Ephebic Oath she took in high school in which she promised to "leave my world no less, but rather greater than I found it".
