Taizé is a place for spiritual renewal and reconciliation. Each
year, young pilgrims flock to the small village in central France
to share in the community's way of life.
As part of your Lenten journey, Campus Ministry invites you to the
Taizé Prayer Service, on Thursday, March 7, at
7:30 p.m. in St. Thomas More Church.
We will recreate the wonder of Taizé. Visitors are astonished by
observing what happens when thevillage bells ring out across the
hills. Activities come to a halt and worshippers all beat a path to
the Church of Reconciliation. On some days, as many as 6,000 young
adults gather in silence in the dimly lit interior, adorned with
icons, greenery, and candles. A single voice sings the first line
of asimple, chant-like refrain. Gradually, all those assembled join
the song, which is interrupted only by periods of silence and a few
short readings.
