Mid-Term Grading: Spring 2013 |
I write to remind you that Mid-Term Grades are due by March
16, 2013.
Beginning with the Fall 2012 semester you no
longer receive mid-term grade rosters with your freshmen listed.
You need only to log into St. John’s Central, select UIS Tab, click
here to access, click on Faculty and select the Mid-Term Grades
option. The X numbers of the students you must enter grades
for will be highlighted in red.
Although University policy requires that you submit mid-term grades
for freshmen, you are encouraged to submit mid-term grades for all
students. In accordance with established practice, we will continue
to report to the Provost and Deans on the progress of mid-term
grade submission. After the mid-term grade due date, you will
be receiving emails from my office which lists any freshmen for
which you have not submitted grades.
Given the University’s goals of enhancing
student engagement and supporting the academic progress of
students, for the purpose of mid-term grade submission, the
University defines freshmen as all first-time undergraduate
students admitted for the current semester, regardless of the
number of credits they have, and all other undergraduate students
who have 24 or fewer credits.
I would like to remind you that mid-term
grades are informational only. They do not appear on a
student’s transcript. Although grades are not due until
March 16, 2013, you can begin to enter grades on Friday,
March 8, 2013. The last day for a student to withdraw from a
class or to apply for a pass/fail option is Wednesday, April 10,
2013.
I thank you for your cooperation in
submitting mid-term grades. Mid-term grades provide students a
better understanding of their progress at this key point in the
semester, and help them in their planning for the remainder of the
semester.
Feel free to contact me should you have
questions.
