Tobin Undergraduate Deans and Staff Complete Vincentian Mission Certificate Program

April 28, 2008

Queens, NY--On April 24th, four Tobin College Deans and staff members including Assistant Dean and Director of Academic Advisement, Douglas Leary, and Assistant to the Dean, Michele Dell’Anno, along with staff members Regina Demery and Jane O’Shea, received  recognition for completing the Vincentian Mission Certificate Program (VMCP).

The VMCP provides St. John’s employees with professional and personal development that enriches their lives and prepares them to be role models in the St. John’s community and the surrounding community. It also helps to empower employees to live out and reflect upon the Vincentian Mission and prepares participants to emerge as Mission Leaders who carry on St. Vincent’s legacy by inspiring others into action.

In order to be considered for the program, one must have participated in a Vincentian Mission Orientation or the Vincentian Leadership Program, must have a minimum of one year, full-time, active service with the University, and satisfactory work performance with no warnings in the 24 months preceeding Orientation.

The Program includes three core sessions that run as half-day modules: Vincentian Spirituality, Vincentian Heritage, and Social Teachings of the Church; 50 hours of community service- two-thirds of which will be in direct contact with the poor; and, monthly reflection on the participants’ service. There are no academic credits earned upon completion of the program, however, each participant is honored with a certificate of service.

The entire Tobin community would like to congratulate these participants in their quest to carry on St. Vincent DePaul’s, and the University’s legacy.
