The mission of Leadership
Development is to supplement our St. John’s University mission
by educating and providing programs that assist and enhance
students in their personal growth, decision-making, and leadership
advancement and training. Developing leadership skills is an
important part of the overall college experience and can lead
individuals to personal and academic success.
The Leadership Development area provides tri-campus leadership
training through a four-tier certificate program, facilitates and
creates customized workshops, and student organizational
training. We facilitate development in the Vincentian
tradition by providing a variety of opportunities for students to
facilitate and participate in our certificate and non-certificate
Leadership programs.
L.E.A.D.
Leadership,
Education And Development is a non-credit program of individual
and group training, workshops and overnight conferences dedicated
to helping St. John’s University students interested in developing
and enhancing their leadership skills.

Workshop schedule.
Sponsored by the Department of Student Life, L.E.A.D complements
students’ education by teaching them skills and providing them with
the tools necessary for effective leadership. Through their
involvement in L.E.A.D., they will begin to hone their knowledge
and understanding of time management, decision-making, proper
planning, critical thinking, oral presentation and much more.
Whether students participate in the certificate program or
non-certificate program, they will acquire the skills and training
needed for success beyond St. John’s University. As an active
student participant in the program, students will:
- Acquire the building blocks for effective leadership
- Learn to take an active leadership role on campus and in the
community
- Understand how to have meaningful interactions with a diverse
group of people
- Learn techniques to communicate effectively
- Enhance important life skills
- Supplement in-class education with out-of-class
experiences
- Network with current students, faculty, administrators and
staff at the University
- Become an advocate for positive change
I ask that you encourage your son/daughter to get involved in
