A day-long torrential downpour didn’t prevent a group of St.
John’s University alumni and friends from gathering for happy hour
at E. B. Elliott’s on Freeport’s Nautical Mile on Thursday, June
18, 2009.

Despite
the rain, the picturesque dockside setting was perfect for this
fourth event in the widely popular Young Alumni Happy Hour series.
Young alumni enthusiastically enjoyed appetizers, drinks, music and
another opportunity to meet with friends and make new contacts in
their own section of the bar.
The series, conceptualized by the Young Alumni Committee and the
Office of Alumni Relations, provides recent graduates with a medium
to connect with St. John’s as well as their peers. From first-time
attendees to return guests, the alumni who came see real value in
these events.
“This is my first St. John’s young alumni event,” said Nicole
Ann Piampiano '06CPS. “This event has inspired me to attend some of
the other ones that are coming up in the next few months. It seems
that St. John’s young alumni events are pretty great!”
“I came because I love to network with past students,” shared
Andrew Joseph Janosick '02C who came as eager to see old friends as
he was to make new ones. “I’ve been to almost every happy hour. If
I’m available, I’m there—and I’ll keep on coming.”
As the evening progressed, the weather cleared up and attendees
continued to express their appreciation.
“These events are great regardless of the weather,” stated
Dominic J. Baccala '09C. “We all come together and meet alumni from
all different classes…I’ve already input future happy hours into my
Google calendar.”
