“Never
forget why you’re here,” advised Kathleen Vouté MacDonald, Dean of
St. John’s University’s College of Professional Studies. “You are
here to live and learn from and with each other.”

Faculty Convocation
This was just some of the advice given by faculty, staff,
administrators, current students and alumni from each of St. John’s
five colleges during the 2009 New Student Convocation.
Throughout the September 1 convocations, on both the Queens and
Staten Island campuses, new students were encouraged to take
advantage of opportunities, get involved and to make academics
their first priority before they were invited out to the Great Lawn
for St. John’s Fest. Complete with live entertainment, games, food
and good weather – it was the perfect welcome to the St. John’s
family and the start of an exciting academic year.
“I
appreciate the University taking the time to do this. Getting the
chance to meet your professors and participate in festivities
really gets you excited to begin college,” said Frances Agiapoumg,
freshmen in St. John’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
