What is RSS?
RSS, commonly referred to as Really Simple Syndication, is a means
of publishing lists of Web links, with attached abstracts, that
allow users of a Web site to see the latest changes without
actually going to the site.
How does RSS work?
By using an RSS reader (more about readers below), you can be
alerted to changes to the Web site when they happen. The RSS reader
you choose will request RSS feeds from the sites you monitor,
automatically. It may even keep track of the articles you have read
and alert you when new articles appear.
When you set up your RSS reader, you can subscribe to your
favorite Web sites RSS feed. For instance, in addition to St.
John's Inside, you may also subscribe to CNN, The New York Times,
etc. All you will need is the link to the RSS feed.
RSS readers
There are many different RSS readers to choose from. The
reader you choose will really depend on your individual needs.
