Office of Residence Life in conjunction with the Office of Alumni
Relations hosted over 30 St. John’s families for their annual “Safe
Trick or Treat Program” on October 26. The event, held in the St.
Vincent Hall Ozanam Lounge and the Redstorm Diner, provided a safe
space for the children and grandchildren of St. John’s faculty,
staff and alumni to celebrate Halloween.
and their families received a warm reception from representatives
of the Office of Alumni Relations at the Redstorm Diner before
proceeding to the many activities in St. Vincent Hall. Beaming
children dressed in all manner of colorful costumes were greeted by
students (also in costume) handing out candy and other
host of games and other festivities were held including face
painting, spooky bowling, coloring Halloween pictures, decorating
trick or treat bags and completing scary puzzles. All the
activities were run by St. John’s resident students.
Finkelstein, Director of the Office of Residence Life, observed
that Safe Trick or Treat gives students a chance to give back to
St. John’s. “It speaks to the sense of community in our Residence
Halls and our students’ focus on service,” adding that they gave
their time to ensure the children had a safe, enjoyable evening
reflecting the spirit of the holiday.
