As New York City experiences its first heat wave of the summer,
the city is taking measures to keep residents healthy and cool. A
heat advisory is in effect with temperatures expected to be in the
mid-90s. New York City has opened over 300 cooling centers
throughout the city, so residents can take refuge from the extreme
heat. Public pools will also extend their hours so that residents
may enjoy the refreshing water for even longer.
Keep in mind, the hottest hours of the day will be between 2 - 6
p.m. All New Yorkers should limit their heat exposure until the
heat advisory is lifted.

York City Office of Emergency Management’s Web site.
