St. John's is proud to offer counseling and related services for all students, faculty and staff on the Queens and Staten Island campuses. The staff at the Center for Counseling & Consultation is dedicated to helping St. John's students who may be experiencing personal or emotional difficulties that interfere with their ability to perform well. Our services include assessment, individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, consultation and referral. Psychiatric consultation is also available when appropriate. All services are free and confidential within the limits of legal and ethical restrictions. The Center operates within a short-term counseling model and students with more longstanding or specialized issues will be helped to find more appropriate resources within the community. As part of the Department of Student Wellness, Counseling and Consultation Center staff also works closely with all members of the St. John's community to help create a healthy and balance environment to foster both personal wellness and strong emotional development. Our staff of professional counselors offers individual counseling and group workshops in the following areas:
In addition to in-person services, we offer a number of national online screenings for the following issues that allow students to confidentially check in with their own concerns before seeking additional support.
